The woman that has been the most inspiring in my life is my Mom. She is and always has been a hard worker. She raised 3 kids by herself. Put 2 through college and always managed to give us the things we wanted and needed. At 68 years old she still works 2 jobs over 40 hours a week. Nobody can tell her to slow down.

The woman that has been the most inspirational to me is my friend Meg. She has raised 5 kids - 2 biological and 3 adopted. She was a 17 year old mom who worked at minimum wage jobs and went to school to get an education. She worked her way through school to achieve a Masters Degree in Psychology/Counseling. She went on to open her own Counseling center and has always been a community activist. She has spoken out to help the homeless, and children with out insurance. She sees many people with limited and no ability to pay. Her center also purchases items to help their clients such as medicines and food. She is the recipiant of a Wal-Mart Grant for her community Service. She is always a positive influence to anyone that she meets. She is my Inspiration and Hero.

The inspirational woman in my life is one that has faced too many hardships, but has the most upbeat and positive personality. As I write about her, I wonder how one woman could survive so much tragedy? As a young girl, she lost both of her parents to cancer and spent the rest of her childhood in boarding school. As a young woman, she carried twins only to lose them and discover her first battle with cancer. She and her husband went on to adopt a Native American child. A few years later, she was met with more cancer. She always said her cancer was treatable but not curable. She always chose to fight her cancer with education and achieved her PhD. As a resident of New Orleans, she experienced Hurricane Katrina. She and her husband were on the highest floor of the school she taught at with their social security numbers written on their back. They lived through the hardship, only to be looted and robbed, losing much of her mother’s cherished jewelry and china. Not knowing how long she would live, she always lives her life to the fullest only to be tortured further with the recent, unexpected loss of her husband. When I have a bad day, I remember our family friend, Teri and think how much she has overcome and remained so positive.
