Oh, the joys of birthdays! I will share a few of my favorite birthday memories:

-One year I went out to dinner with my mother, boyfriend, and my boyfriend's mother to celebrate my 22nd birthday. We were all in the midst of our dinner when we were approached by a familiar face. A man that I used to babysit for when I was 12 came up to us. He recognized my mother but did not immediatly realize who I was. Without hesitation he started to hit on me right infront of my mom and boyfriend not realizing I was the former middle school aged babysitter of his children! He seemed pretty embarassed when he realized this. My mother, boyfriend, and boyfriend's mother all had a good laugh with me about the situation after he walked away with his tail between his legs.

-On the eve of my 21st birthday my best friend and her boyfriend at the time suprised me. I was in my jammies studying for class when they showed up at 11:30pm demanding that I get dressed to go out. The city I was living in did not allow 20 year old's into the bars for their "hour of power" from 12:01am-close. However, my best friend had arranged with a friend working at a local bar to let me in. I didn't even have a new ID and had to take my passport which had my photo from age 16! My best friend had invited a bunch of our friends out and it was a wonderful "hour of power"!

-I had to work on my 19th birthday. I did not tell anyone it was my birthday. At the time there was a guy on staff who always seemed to give me a hard time. I thought he hated me because he seemed annoyed and always made rude comments. On my 19th birthday I showed up to find he made me cupcakes and wrote me a really sweet note. From that moment on this guy and I started to become friends. His gesture was purely an act of kindness and he was only interested in becoming friends. It was very sweet and remains a fond memory in my mind.

Oh man, ever since i left September's Bride and the country, i have dearly missed Meg Jewelry.
in honor of you being a jewelry site i will share my second grade birthday story. i had been waiting all day for my birthday party after school, it was a halloween party so we were going to be wearing costumes and decorating pumpkins and things like that. But the last hour of the day my dad came to take me out of school. He said i had a doctor's appointment and that i would be missing part of my party. i cried the whole way there, in the waiting room and in the doctor's office. But when the nurse came in i found out i was getting my ears pierced! it made up for missing all of the games and the food and everything! Happy Birthday!

So far my best birthday memory has been the year my sister and I went to the spa for my birthday. There's a spa near her house that gives free admittance on you birthday! So I flew over to Seattle that morning and when she got home from work we went and had a beautifully relaxing evening.
After the spa we went for sushi at one of the local hot-spots.

As a grad student there is no better birthday present than a 100% stress free day! Having my sister there was just the icing on the cake <3

Here is my most fun birthday memory. When I was in about 2nd grade I had a little boyfriend and I really don't remember his name as I just called him "monkey-head". I was the only girl invited to his birthday party which was on Halloween and a great honor. My mother was working so she called my dad to make sure he could take me to the party. I had been dressed up for Halloween as a princess with fancy hair and all the trimmings- even beautiful jewelry of my mothers (started my love of sparkly things way early!). My mom left a message for my Dad to comb my hair and wash my face before he took me to the party.

He got the message wrong and thought he was supposed to wash my hair. Under huge protest from me I ended up being the only girl, wet-haird princess at the party!!!!

We played dunking for apples, so the whole wet head thing didn't turn out to be such a bad thing.

I don't have any good birthday stories. But, if I win the jewelry I could say I won it for my birthday and that would be the greatest birthday present of all time!!!!!

This past birthday was my most memorable. In the past my boyfriend would arrange some great birthday parties, planned and unexpected. Dinners and outings all that I am beyond grateful for and will always remember. However this year was different! I was planning my own Birthday Party for the first time ever.
For my 24th Birthday which was this past August. I had a Luau Birthday, Tiki Torches, decorations, grass skirts the works.
The day of my birthday my boyfriend took me out shopping for new running shoes as a birthday gift. I had been complaining all summer about needing a new pair. We got to the store and they didn't have the shoes I wanted. He is obsessed with Jordan's and there were some new releases at the entrance asked me to try on a pair, and I said sure but I dont want these as my gift. The salesclerk hands him the shoes he's taking out the paper they stuff the shoes with after a little struggle he pulls out a little black box, gets on his knee and proposes to me! I instantly start to cry, accept his proposal and now my boyfriend is my Fiance. Most memorable and Best BIRTHDAY Ever!

My favorite birthday memories are the ones spent every year with my older brother, Ryan. I was born the day before he turned 5. My birthday is April 26 and his is April 27. We've done just about everything together on our birthdays - from flying in a small airplane together over our town as kids to him taking me out for a chocolate martini when I turned 21 at his favorite college bar at the university we went to. We have celebrated together since I was born, and continue to today. I am now 25 and Ryan is 30. He has always been one of my greatest role models and I'm always proud to say we've shared a birthday party every year!

My favorite Birthday was probably when I turned 21. My roommate at the time bought 21 buttercream cupcakes (my favorite) and placed them all over the room for me to find after class. A couple days later (I was in college at the time) my (now husband) treated me to a night on the town in Alexandria.
My close second would have to be my 17th because my parents bought me a car (and I still have it today!). They had it parked in the back yard with the blinds down and did a big reveal when I opened my last gift (a box with a set of car keys). It was love at first sight!

I have 2 truly fantastic birthday memories:
*For my 21st birthday the Atlanta Braves were in town to play the Cincinnati Reds. So I, along with my boyfriend, best friend and his girlfriend got ticktes to the game (how could I not go see my favorite team when it was fate that they'd be here for my special day!). All day my friend helped me get ready by straightening my hair, going with me to the DMV to get my new license & picking up my incredible cake for my celebration that night. When we all met up at my boyfriend's apartment to head to the game, however, he & my best friend nearly ruined my night by laughing at me. They thought I was ridiculous for wearing a cute top, skirt, heels, and tiara. But, hello...I'm a diva! And that night was about me. Not that we were going to a baseball game. Duh! Plus, we were going out afterwards to meet up with some of my childhood friends to celebrate with champagne & that delicious cake, and I refused to look like a sweaty bum in jeans & a tee. Anyways, they got over it and finally admitted that I looked wonderful. I had a blast and the night was wonderful.

*Las year for my big 30th birthday I decided to throw a big party. I rented out a space, had yummy hors d'ouerves, and a custom 2-tier pillow cake with a tiara on top. Best of all I was surrounded by my closest friends and family and my night was filled with love. As I toasted everyone who shared my special day, I was showered with a magnificent balloon and flower petal drop. My bestie dj'd the entire night and we danced and danced. After the party, I went home for a quick wardrobe change and 2 of my friends and I went out to a downtown bar & I rode a mechanical bull for the first time ever! Truly a night I'll never forget.

Years ago, in a place far far away, it was my 18th birthday. Alright, it was parent’s house, so I’m a Star Wars fan so I had to say that. Anyway, I invited 10 of my closest friends to my house to help celebrate the occasion. There were balloons and crepe paper everywhere. I remember the night going as planned, having fun playing games and sometimes popping balloons by sitting on them. I don’t remember how this happened but somehow streamers got caught in the ceiling fan and we had to turn off the fan to try to cut the strings of curling ribbon out of it. But my memberable moment was when it was time for cake and that's when things got out of hand. The cake was a huge ice cream sheet cake with lots of candles.....um, maybe too many candles because it melted the cake. When I tried to quickly blow out the candles the wax went everywhere. Since nobody didn’t want to eat melted waxed cake somebody decided to shout out “lets have a cake fight!” Well that's when things really got out of hand. Cake was in everyone's hair, face, carpet, and anything that stood still like furniture. Thank goodness that we were in the entertainment room! My parents made us take the fun outside so each of us took wads of cake and continued the cake slinging outside. Moments later people got cans of silly string and silly stringed the whole front yard and some cars......although I don't recommend the silly sting on the cars. Not so good on the paint! So by the end of the night we all had cake and silly string smeared all over us. It was quite a scene but it was a great time. Third times the charm, I remember one of my friends leaving at the end of the night and somehow missed the end of the driveway and got stuck in the ditch. Oh good times, I thank my friends for making it a special one and I will never forget it night.

I have had lots of great birthdays but that particular birthday sticks out the most.

My birthday has been very special since I met my husband because our birthdays are three days apart :) For the past 4 years, we have made these three days into an official birthday festival, believing just like Meg jewelry that celebrations should last a few days!

It is SO awesome to share your birthday festival with your husband and best friend that it's a reward in itself. However last year took it over the top. My husband is a screenwriter/filmmaker and I am a producer and we learned last year on my birthday that our latest short film had been selected in a special category of the Cannes Film Festival, only the most prestigious film festival in the world and my life long dream! It was an awesome moment in our life and I am so glad it happened during our b-day festival!
